Not everyone loves Britney these days.  Recently, K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, filed court papers demanding that the Britney Spears pay his legal fees related to the custody battle.  This demand was likely prompted by the recent court documents which revealed that Spears’ average income is $737,868/ month.  That’s a lot of duckets for a flailing Pop Star who hasn’t recorded a hit song in years.  Read the rest of this entry »

PHATLAW has learned that yet another NFL player has had a run in with the law.  This time, the culprit is Chicago Bears’ Linebacker, Lance Briggs.  At approximately 3:14 a.m. Monday morning, Briggs crashed his $350K Lambourghini on Chicago’s Edens Expressway.  Now, don’t worry BEARS fans, the Powerhouse Linebacker was not injured.  However, instead of calling the police, Briggs did what any other highly paid, self indulgent, star athlete would do - - he ran for the hills and left his Lambourghini behind.   As a result, Briggs was charged with a misdemeanor for leaving the scene of the accident and also received two traffic citations.

Police arrested Rebecca Broussard (who?), aka the mother of Jack Nicholson’s two children, for felony DUI late Sunday night.  She posted bail and will be back in court September 17th.  Judging by recent celebrity DUI sentences, the charges against Broussard will likely be dropped at that time.  Then, she will be given an award.

PhatThought: Looks like the joke is on Broussard.  Following this story would be as fun as watching paint dry.

In a press conference today, the former Falcon front man declares that he has found Jesus and will turn his life over to God.  In addition to praising the Lord, the former QB apologizes to Commissioner Goodell, the Falcon’s coach, Arthur Blank, and the kids who have looked up to him.  To add to the tear jerker, Vick stated that “dogfighting is a terrible thing.  I reject it.”  Read the rest of this entry »

PHATLAW has learned that Commissioner Goodell has suspended the Falcon’s super star indefinitely without pay.  The Commish’s decision frees up the Atlanta Falcons to assert claims and remedies available to them under the Collective Bargaining Agreement or Vick’s NFL Player Contract.

Debra Opri suffered yet another public slap in the face when a California judge denied her motion to have David Hasselhoff pay her fees for representing his wife (Pamela Bach) in the couple’s divorce.  You may remember Opri as Larry Birkhead’s attorney from the Anna Nicole Smith baby daddy drama.  The California judge denied Opri’s motion because she failed to get Bach’s permission before going after the Hoff to pay her bills.  Bach fired Opri in June and apparently does not believe Opri is entitled to a penny of the $189,000 she is seeking.

This is seriously getting tough to watch.  Does Debra Opri not understand that there is no better way to alienate potential clients then by publicly going after your old clients?  Neither Birkhead nor Bach (two of her most recent high profile cases) would give her the time of day let alone a referral.
