Chris Rock will likely be able to bring a defamation claim against Bowyer for any alleged false statements she made about him (i.e. father of her son, good in bed, etc.).  Rock will have to prove that he was damaged by the allegedly false statements because the statements, if false, would be defamation per quod rather than per se.  You may be asking “Per what?”  Defamation per se are statements for which the law presumes damage because of the nature of those statements (i.e. statements that an individual is a thief, a woman is a whore.)  Here, Rock will have to prove that he suffered damage as a result of Bowyer’s statement that he was the father of her child.  Read the rest of this entry »
