Clooney to the Leakers – All is Forgiven
By PHATLAW Staff

PHATLAW has learned that the Palisades Medical Center in New Jersey has suspended several doctors and hospital staffers for leaks related to George Clooney’s medical records. As PHATLAW readers will recall, the Perpetual Bachelor was in a motorcycle accident last month and was treated at the Palisades Medical Center. After his discharge, medical personnel, who reportedly didn’t treat the Commitment Phobe Actor, allegedly leaked his medical records to the media. When asked for comment, the Super Star stated, “. . . I very much believe in a patient’s right to privacy, [but] I would hope that this can be settled without suspending medical workers.â€
Well, that’s very generous of the Heartthrob to not file suit. But, in reality, the medical professionals who allegedly leaked his records are in deep sh*t. For instance, HIPPA (Health Information Privacy Protection Act, or something like that), covets the patient’s medical privacy and imposes strict standards for keeping the information private. Any violations of HIPPA can result in a suspension of license and reporting to the appropriate medical boards. So, even if Clooney decides to not file suit, the Medical Center is under a duty to investigate and report any violations of HIPPA. So, these hackers and leakers of medical information may lose their licenses.
PhatThought: Even Cutie George Clooney isn’t worth losing a career over.
PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments in this case.
