O.J. To Face the Music . . . In Court

November 9th, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

Glove republished under a CC license by yoppy

O.J. Simpson appeared in court on Thursday to face multiple felony charges. The felony charges include kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and coercion. If these charges weren’t bad enough, The Juice is set to face a mounting list of accomplices who have copped a plea in exchange for their testimony against the Hall of Famer.

O.J.’s biggest problem at this court appearance will be the testimony of Bruce Fromong. PHATLAW readers may recall that Fromong is the sports memorabilia dealer and an alleged victim to the Las Vegas Heist of September. Undoubtedly, Fromong will testify that Simpson was part of the Gang of Thieves who stole his stuff from his Palace Station Casino hotel room.

Convictions on all the charges could land the Former Running Back in jail for life.

PhatThought: Looks like the “If the Glove Don’t Fit, You Must Acquit” Defense won’t work this time.

PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments in this case.

Al Cowlings and O.J. Simpson - Friends No More?

November 8th, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

White Bronco republished under a CC license by T.Young

TMZ photogs recently caught Al Cowlings (aka the infamous white bronco driver of 1997) leaving a Hollywood eatery and asked the all too important questions: “So, you still friends with O.J.?” Instead of admitting his friendship with The Juice, The Infamous One simply smirked and shied away from the camera. When asked what he thought about what happened in Vegas with O.J - again, Cowlings provided no comment.

PhatThought: Wow, what a difference a double murder and 10 years can do to a friendship.

PHATLAW will continue to update the latest developments in this case.

Another Felony Charge Against The Juice

October 25th, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

Jail Cell republished under a CC license

PHATLAW has learned that O.J. Simpson has now been charged with felony coercion in relation to the Las Vegas heist of last month. That’s right, in addition to kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy, the HEISMAN winner can add felony coercion to his long (and ever growing) list of charges.

In a complaint filed on Wednesday, Walter Alexander and Charles Cashmore pled guilty to reduced charges. In return, the Duo are set to testify against No. 32 at the preliminary hearing on November 8th.

PhatThought: An O.J. thought that he would never go to jail. . .

PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments on this case.

O.J.’s Taxes Are His Double Edged Sword

October 25th, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

Federal IncomeTaxes republished under a CC license by Nutloaf

According to The Juice’s tax returns, he made nearly $400K in income from his NFL pension every year from 2003-2005, which totals $1.2M. That’s a lot of duckets for a double murderer. In addition to his pension, the HEISMAN winner earned $50K is appearance fees and claimed $772,090 in personal property on his 2005 return.

Unfortunately, No. 32’s NFL pension is exempt from the $33.5M judgment rendered against him in 1997 for the double murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman. But, that is not going to deter Fred Goldman from squeezing The Juice for every penny he can. Goldman’s lawyer has indicated that he will go after the Hall of Famer’s personal property and look into seizing his Florida home.

PhatThought: For O.J., not only are death and taxes sure in life, but Fred Goldman is too.

PHATLAW will continue post the latest developments in this case.

Update - Another Canary Sings Loudly Against The Juice

October 16th, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

Canary republished under a CC license by Memotions

Walter Alexander is yet another co-defendant who is going to sing against O.J. Simpson. PHATLAW readers will recall that Alexander was involved in the Las Vegas heist last month of sports memorabilia of The Juice. In exchange for his testimony against the HEISMAN trophy winner and three other co-defendants, this Singing Canary will plead guilty to a lesser charge.

PHATLAW readers will recall that The Juice and his Gang of Thieves are charged with more than 10 different crimes, including kidnapping and armed robbery.

PhatThought: Well if you can’t get the Hall of Famer for murder, PHATLAW guesses that a long jail sentence related to armed robbery will do the trick.

PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments in this case.

A Canary is Turning on The Juice

October 15th, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

O.J. Simpson republished under a CC license by azrainman

PHATLAW has learned that Charles Cashmore is scheduled to plead guilty on charges related to his participation in the Las Vegas heist of O.J. Simpson sports memorabilia. PHATLAW readers will recall that Simpson and five others allegedly robbed two sports memorabilia dealers in the City of Sin on September 13th. As a result, the Gang of Thieves were charged with armed robbery, assault, burglary, kidnapping, and conspiracy.

Cashmore, aka The Singing Canary, is scheduled to plead guilty to a reduced charge in exchange for his testimony against The Juice and four other co-defendants. Cashmore will likely plead guilty to accessory to robbery. Such a plea could get him up to 5 years in the slammer. In exchange for the reduced charge, Cashmore will testify that Simpson and two others were armed during last month’s encounter.

PhatThought: With a canary like Cashmore, what happens in Vegas definitely does not stay in Vegas.

PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments in this case.

O.J. To Give Up His ROLEX

October 3rd, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

ROLEX republished under a CC license by paparutzi

At a hearing on Tuesday, a Judge ruled that The Juice must give up his ROLEX and other assets to satisfy the multi-million dollar judgment against him for the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her fried, Ron Goldman. Moreover, the HEISMAN trophy winner must give up any future royalties he receives from a video game featuring his number 32 to Fred Goldman. Also, any monies he receives from the memorabilia obtained in the Las Vegas heist that is legally his must also be turned over to Fred Goldman as part of the judgment against him.

In order to determine just how much The Juice will receive in royalties and future monies from the Las Vegas loot, PHATLAW suspects that an accounting will be ordered wherein a disinterested third party will review the contract related to the video game and evaluate the worth of the Las Vegas heist. Likely disinterested third parties are either an accounting firm or contract lawyer familiar with royalty payments.

PhatThought: Looks like the justice system is finally trying to give the victim’s family some justice.

PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments in this case.

O.J. Simpson is Back in the Sunshine State

September 21st, 2007

By PHATLAW Staff

Miami republished under a CC license by soylentgreen23

The Juice is back in his home state of Florida after posting $125,000 bail.  If you ask PHATLAW that is getting off cheap.  Especially since the HEISMAN winner was popped in 1996 in Vegas (of all places) for armed robbery.  According to the 1996 police reports, the Hall of Fame running back held up a restaurant delivery guy and took money, keys, and large amounts of food.  With the current charges against him, plus this 1996 arrest for armed robbery PHATLAW is stunned that The Juice was let out of jail so easily.

PhatThought: At the rate this case is going, The Juice will be let off the hook again.  Free to aimlessly roam the country seeking out his next victim(s).

PHATLAW will continue to post the latest developments in this case.

By PHATLAW Staff

The Strip - Las Vegas republished under a CC license by g-hat

The Hall of Fame running back was arrested on Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada on robbery, assault, burglary, and conspiracy charges.  Simpson is accused of leading a group of armed men into a hotel room at the Palace Station Hotel-Casino and stealing several sports memorabilia items.  According to an eye-witness, Bruce Fromong, the HEISMAN trophy winner stormed into the hotel room barking orders, throwing around profanities, and repeatedly accusing someone of stealing his things.
